Important Email Addresses

Now that the weather is getting warmer, there are a lot of issues that are surfacing. We diligently called 311 as well as the 77th Precinct regarding the loud music/noise this past Friday. I don't believe it was as effective as we would have liked, but we must continue to call.

Aside from calling, perhaps sending emails to the following people will also help our cause in regards to the quality of life issues that we are currently facing.

Deputy Inspector John Cosgrove @ the 77th precint (email) John.Cosgrove@nypd.org

Kings County District Attorney Charles Hynes (email) HynesC@Brooklynda.org and AdossaS@Brooklynda.org

Errol Louis NY Daily News (email) ErrolLouis@gmail.com (a resident of Crown Heights)

Mayor Michael Bloomberg (email) http://www.nyc.gov/html/mail/html/mayor.html

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz (email) askmarty@brooklynbp.nyc.gov

NY State Senator Karim Camara (email) CamaraK@assembly.state.ny.us

NYC Councilman Albert Vann (email) vann@council.nyc.ny.us (This is an election year for him and I think he will want to be more involved than he has been in previous years.)

Loud Music/Noise on Brooklyn Avenue

The bears who reside at the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and Bergen Street have woken up from hibernation. The bears slept soundly during the cold winter months with some stirs here and there, but today they're back with avengence.

Our neighbors on Brooklyn Avenue (their yard faces Bergen Street) have decided to inaugrate the warm weather with excessively loud music. Thus letting us know that summer will soon be here and we will once again be subjected to their loud music/noise.

There is nothing wrong with having a gathering at your home and playing some music, but when your music carries down the end of the block and your neighbors can barely hear their television, it becomes a huge nuisance.

Furthermore, if this behavior is tolerated it's an invitation for others to follow suit. There is strength in numbers and I urge you to call 311 and file a complaint. The address is 120 Brooklyn Avenue. Make sure to write down your complaint number. You can tell the 311 representive that you're a member of The Rebirth of Bergen Street Association, if you want to remain anonymous.

Car Break-Ins

Between last night and this morning about 4 cars were vandalized, including mine. The windows were broken and the interiors were ransacked. Our dvd player and two monitors were stolen and a nominal amount of pocket change. This is concerning.

I'm off to have the glass replaced (an expense I didn't foresee and a trip I did not plan).

Does anyone know the other victims?

What can we do to prevent this?
